Jonah immediately tackled Luis, knocking the gun out of his hand and pinning him to the wall.

“WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!” he shouted. In the blink of an eye, Luis slipped out of Jonah’s hold, dashed past him, picked up his pistol, and aimed it at Jonah before he could advance. In response, Wyatt and Steven raised their guns.

“I wasn’t about to get bit by him,” stated Luis.

‘Leave my house, and never come back!” yelled Steven, with hatred and disgust in his eyes.…

Brandon, Gwen, and the three ‘thugs’ had finally escaped the mass of Reapers, and had made their way back to Lee’s residence. They had been continually pursued for about a mile or so outside the city, before finally losing them through the thicket and woods. Brandon had begun to hold his right arm with his left; the pain form the bite searing through his veins like fire. Panicked and confused, Luis, Mia, and the African American man (Jonah was his name) hadn’t thought twice about joining…

“It came from down there, in the city,” explained Wyatt, referring to the gunfire he had heard. He had immediately ran inside and told Brandon and Gwen, insisting that it must have been military personnel.

“That’s shit, man,” said Brandon. “How do you know it was the military?”

“Automatic gunfire,” explained Wyatt. “How many civilians do you know walking around with assault rifles?”

“What if a civilian got a hold of a soldier’s rifle?” suggested Gwen.…

Lee looked out the window at the warm, sunny day. It was late April, and the last traces of winter were receding, and the flowers starting to bloom. They were driving up a hill and through a suburban neighborhood that Lee knew all too well. He had lived here for the majority of the time 5 years in a row, after his parents had gotten divorced. As they rounded yet another turn, they finally reached a cul de sac at the top of the hill outlined by a few upper-middle class houses. They took one…

Lee couldn’t pinpoint an exact number, but he estimated that there were about 10 to 15 reapers outside. They looked to be traveling as a group, though he doubted they were very organized.

He looked over to Wyatt, who mouthed the words ‘don’t move’. The figures continued to slowly pace by the window, their shadows covering the adjacent wall. Lee could hear their faint moaning through the glass.

Just as they had almost passed, the last one in the pack suddenly stopped. It peered into…

Lee froze in place.

“Who the hell are you?” said the man.

“My name…is…Lee,” he said, panting between words.

“What in the HELL are you doing here, and who are they?” pointing at the door, pounding noises coming from the other side.

“Those…things,” he said. “They…chased after me…tried to kill me.”

“What do you mean ‘things’?” he asked.

“Those…I don’t know. They’re like people, but…dead,” he said.

There was a long pause.

“Boy, what…

He quickly ducked back inside the bus.

There was no way Lee would get past all of them without alerting them. And twelve of those flesh-eating things against one of him? He didn’t like those odds at all. He began to hurriedly try to configure a plan to escape undetected, despite his fear and confusion. He kept in mind that he didn’t know what the hell these things were capable of.
