"We Only Love You For Your Brains"

Well I'll tell you what I think, I think when I find myself out of the loop, I am really out of the loop. That's what I think.

Today Lionsgate released the latest trailer for their movie "The Hunger Games." According to "Good Morning America" this is the most anticipated film of 2012, and should rival "Twilght" and "Harry Potter" in the box office.  The movie set for release in March of next year, is based on a trilogy of books with over 16 million copies in print. So why then is this the first time I have ever fucking heard of it.

I mean I am the first to confess I don't read books nearly as much as I used to, but I am still a diehard movie buff and I read all the online newspapers daily. If something was on the horizon that is allegedly capable of eclipsing the Twilight or the Harry Potter series at the box office, I should think I would have read about it someplace before today. So is this just marketing bullshit, or am I really that out of touch?

The premise looks cool, granted more sci-fi than horror, but still cool.  I half hoped when I heard the word "hunger" in the title that it might involve zombies but it doesn't.  That said, based on what I saw in the trailer, it does kinda look like a mash-up of "The Running Man", "Logan's Run", and "The Island".  I suppose if nothing else it is nice to see a strong female lead for a change that isn't being played by Jolie or Jovovich, no matter how much I adore the latter. So you  tell me what you think, is it really as big a deal as they make it out to be, or is this really old news that I am just too slow to catch up on?

Now you're on your own.
